VIVERE CANTUS from KAUNAS, LITHUANIA

I am so proud to tell, that  I am going to conduct  the choir Vivere Cantus from Kaunas, Lithuania in Februar!

The choir Vivere Cantus was founded in May 2015. The idea to revive the mixed choir that existed in VDU almost a century ago occurred to the choir masters of VDU Music Academy. The new academic mixed choir was called Vivere Cantus  (Living Music). A new chapter in the life of previous choir was opened. The new young, enthusiastic group (that includes members of the academic community of the whole university) is full of ideas and ambitious goals and actively performs in concerts and takes part in competitions in Kaunas, Lithuania and Europe. Thanks to the eager and professional attitude of the choir’s members and the conductor Rolandas Daugėla the choir member’s skills are constantly improving and they are doing their best to suitably perform choral music of various styles and historical periods.

In a short period of time the choir has already performed at a number of events: the university rector’s inauguration ceremony in 2015, the Art’s faculty event Ad Lux, in 2015 and 2016 in the Lithuanian students’ choir festivals XVII and XVIII  in  Siauliai and Kaunas, in the international sacred music festivals Cantate Domino XXIII and Cantate Domino XXIV, the event organized by the VDU students’ representation V2, the closing ceremony of psychologists’ assembly and the song festival of Kaunas city Dainų pynė. In October 2016 the choir participated in II International Choir Festival Bratislava Cantat (Slovakia) where it was awarded golden diploma. Presently the choir consists of 35 singers from VDU faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Politics, natural Sciences, Informatics, Music Academy and the faculty of Humanitarian Sciences.
